Diablo 2: Resurrected – The News So Far

When the Diablo series debuted in the 1990s, it forever altered the action RPG genre. When Diablo 2 was released in 2000, it significantly increased the stakes of the franchise. The game begins up where the original one left off, with players attempting to stop the Dark Wanderer from releasing demons into the Sanctuary realm.

The game is regarded as a classic among players and creators alike, having been characterized by Time as “perhaps the finest role-playing game of all time, the best dungeon-crawler of all time, and the best PC game of all time.”

The series continued with the expansion Lord of Destruction and the (tumultuous) release of Diablo 3 in 2012. Diablo 2 has, on the other hand, always stood out as a game-changer.

And now fans may have their wish: a remastered version of Diablo 2. The remaster was unveiled at the start of BlizzCon 2021. Here’s everything fans know about Diablo 2 so far: Resurrected.

When is Diablo 2: Resurrected going to be released?

According to Blizzard President J. Allen Brack, the full HD remake of Diablo 2 and its expansion Lord of Destruction will be available in 2021.

Blizzard appears to be interested in bringing numerous generations of players to experience the breakthrough dungeon crawler that helped define the action role-playing game for years to come with the remake. Many of the new gamers, at 20 years old, may not have been been born when the original game was released, according to Brack. However, the future version intends to please both new and existing gamers.

“With Diablo 2: Resurrected’s enhanced high-resolution audio and visuals, the game is as enjoyable and absorbing now as it was twenty years ago,” Brack stated in a Blizzard news statement.

Although Blizzard has said that the game would be released this year, no exact date has been given. With two decades of fan expectations to satisfy, a solid date will hopefully be revealed shortly.

Is there a Diablo 2: Resurrected trailer?

The new Diablo 2: Resurrected video begins with tiny snippets of speech spoken by various of the game’s main protagonists, all placed against an ominous pan over the game’s emblem. When things pick up speed, the clip demonstrates just how much of a makeover the iconic game has received. The trailer alternates between footage from the original action RPG and the newly remastered version, showcasing gorgeous new environments, refined combat, and a look at all of the Diablo 2 character classes: barbarian, necromancer, amazon, sorceress, and paladin, as well as the assassin and druid classes added in the Lord of Destruction expansion.

The remaster, according to Blizzard, brings the old game “into the present with complete 3D physically based rendering, dynamic lighting, reworked animations and spell effects – all wonderfully rendered in up to 4K resolution.” According to the video seen in this clip, fans may have a whole new respect for a game they already know and love.

Diablo 2: Resurrected will be available on which platforms?

Diablo 2: Resurrected, developed by Blizzard and Vicarious Visions and following the critical success of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2, will be published on Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. However, owing to an impending technical alpha test on the official Diablo 2 website, PC users will be able to opt-in to experience the remastered game first.

“Diablo 2 was a watershed moment for Blizzard and millions of players worldwide. We’re happy to bring Diablo 2: Resurrected back to PC and consoles — with cross-progression on supported platforms — so that players can relive their memories, or experience Diablo 2’s timeless gameplay for the first time, on their preferred platform “According to a press statement issued by Brack.

The Lord of Destruction expansion, which is also included in the remaster, will continue the story.
