Queen of the South season 5-The News so far

Newsweek earlier revealed a rumor from fans that the fifth season of the show would premiere in March 2021. it now appears to be an extremely fast turnaround even if production was only restarted in November. As of now, there’s no specific date for the date when Season 5 of Queen of the South will be released, but from the information available that we can predict it will premiere sometime in the first quarter of 2021.

Who will be returning to the crew in Queen of the South season 5?

There’s no officially announced casting decision from USA concerning the fifth season of Queen of the South. But, considering how the show were in the fourth season, we have a list of characters that will be returning and who won’t. To get the biggest title out there: evidently Alice Braga will once again reprise her role as her role as the queen herself Teresa Mendoza.

Two cast members who could be returning include Hemky Madera, Teresa’s longtime friend, Pote Galvez along with Molly Burnett as Teresa’s friend and confidant Kelly Anne Van Awken. Burnett has been confirmed to be upgraded to regular cast member, so you can count on seeing more of the husband-killing, abusive agent, Kelly Ann, in season five. Also, don’t be shocked to see Vera Cherny returns to play Russian drug dealer Oksana Volkova who was introduced during season 4, and was instrumental in helping in negotiating an agreement with Teresa with her fellow members of the Russian mob.

Another confirmed returnee for season 5 could be Peter Gadiot, who plays James Valdez, an ally of Teresa’s who was absent until the end of season 4. The show’s director Ben Lobato explained to Entertainment Weekly that Gadiot was absent for the majority of season 4 due to scheduling conflicts however, we can anticipate his return to the spotlight in the coming season. “We decided to get him back in and set him up for season 5 and let’s go,” Lobato stated.

There are a few regular cast members who we don’t know about for season five. Julian Silva (who played Tony Parra) and Alfonso Herrera (who played Javier Jimenez) won’t return, since both characters passed away in season 4.

We could have an extended wait in front to us in Queen of the South season 5. However, from all the information available about the season to come it appears that Teresa will be once more gearing for battle in order to defend her kingdom.
